Jerry, Elvis, Earl, & Clyde Welcome You to The Outer Banks

About Me

As a lifelong resident of North Carolina I came to the Outer Banks in the early ‘80s buying fresh seafood for my wholesale seafood routes. It wasn’t long before I would call the OBX home and it has been since 1985. Since receiving my North Carolina Real Estate license in 1998 I have been selling real estate full-time. I have seen the market change quite a few different ways. I’ve been an investor, a developer and I have built numerous personal homes. It’s hard to sit in a seat involving real estate that I haven’t sat in personally myself. I always try to put myself in my client’s place. What is going to be the best fit and value for my client when searching the MLS. Also my personal real estate experiences give me great insight when I am asked for advice, so please never hesitate with a question. If I can’t answer it I have a large network of professionals that I have entrusted myself and I feel grateful to have them available to answer questions.

Whether this will be a long-time dream fulfilled for that “Beach house you’ve always wanted” or a year round home, I guarantee to be the “Best Doggone Realtor on the Beach” for you.

About the Hounds

As you can see I’m a big fan of Basset Hounds and dogs in general. I’ve had a total of six Bassets in the last fifteen years and do love them dearly. They all made their way to me with different stories but were all “hand-me-downs.” They are "Lucky Dogs" as Dr. Grossman, my Veterinarian, says. So if you’re a dog lover, two paws up and if you’re familiar with the Basset breed and wonder, “Why the heck would someone want three” (as they are hard-headed and stubborn) you’ll have to just wonder 'til we meet. The hounds are Elvis, twelve years old, aka E-Dawg; Earl, five years old, aka Mr. Hickey; and the youngest, Clyde the Clown, almost three years.

Client comments

Thank you for your professionalism, kindness and willingness to “go the extra mile" to assist Courtney in the purchase of her Pine Island Home___Gene and Nancy Seitz

I have worked with several realtors in the past and have never been as impressed and pleased as I've been with Jerry Speight. He was very knowledgeable of the laws and codes in the area. His thoroughness allowed for a smooth progression in the process of acquiring the property. Best of all, Jerry is personable and continues to keep in contact with us. We have recommended him to family, friends and colleagues and have received positive feedback.___Dr Palmieri and family

Since 2002, we have bought two oceanfront properties with Jerry’s help. One is an eight bedroom investment property in Pine Island and the other is a four bedroom old-style cottage in Duck that we live in when we are in the area. The houses and locations are very different, but Jerry’s knowledge of the area and the real estate market provided the information we needed to know that both properties are great investments. With his attention to detail and experience, both closings went smoothly and we have never regretted buying either place. How often can you say that you have remained friends with your realtor long after the sale? I wouldn’t trust buying or selling real estate on the Outer Banks to anyone but Jerry. ___Linda and Tom Mink
